About Douglas Distributing

History

Douglas Distributing was founded in 1975 by Leo L. Douglas. A native of Salt Lake City, Leo had moved his young family years earlier to Seattle to work for Royal Corona Coffee Company. Royal Corona was bought out by Continental Coffee, and Leo was impressed with their wonderful selection of coffees and spices. He longed to be back in Salt Lake City, so he moved back and established Commercial Importing Company in 1979, with Continental Coffee as his major line.

Leo soon sold his portion of Commercial Importing to start Douglas Distributing. He started Douglas because he saw a unique opportunity to serve coffee and water to local restaurants, hotels, office breakrooms, and the then-emerging convenience store. Since its humble beginnings, Douglas Distributing has built relationships with the finest restaurants, hotel properties, convenience store chains, offices and other businesses along the Wasatch Front and throughout the Intermountain West.

OUR ROOTS ARE IN SALT LAKE CITY
As the longest-tenured business coffee distributor in Salt Lake City, Douglas Distributing has tried hard to give back to the community that has provided so much. Douglas Distributing has donated thousands of pounds of coffee to the Salt Lake Mission in its effort to provide for the less fortunate. We have also had the opportunity to provide for many charities and nonprofit organizations, such as Make-A-Wish Foundation, Shriners Hospital, and GIVE HOPE, to name a few. Douglas Distributing has also been a longtime donor to the Scholarship Fund at the University of Utah. If you have an opportunity for us to give back, please contact us and we will see if we can be of assistance.
